Hygiene Kits to Students

Help children head to the classroom feeling their best by making and assembling back-to-school hygiene kits!

Please purchase and bring the items needed for at least two hygiene kit: soap, a washcloth, a toothbrush and toothpaste. Of course, you’re welcome to bring more than two. Our goal is to make 40-50 complete kits including sewing bags to put them in.

At this hands-on Inside Out Club event, you’ll help sew a decorative bag to hold the hygiene items, which will be given to a local school district for students in need.  Additionally, we’ll learn about the Naperville Education and Indian Prairie Foundations.

This is a great way to build empathy, demonstrate kindness and have fun volunteering with as a family with families.

What you need to bring

Each child should come with the following new items to create two full hygiene kits:

  • 2 packages of soap
  • 2 washcloths
  • 2 toothbrushes
  • 2 toothpastes

Please no spray bottles of any kind. We’ll provide the sewing supplies, equipment and expertise to assemble the kits.

We’ll meet at Classic Sewing in Naperville on Sunday, September 10th, at 2 p.m. to assemble the kits and learn about the Naperville Education Foundation and Indian Prairie Education Foundations. Both of these organizations do amazing things for our local school districts.

Space is limited. You must register to reserve your spot(s). There is no cost to register, but we do expect that if you register you will attend. This event will fill quickly. If something arises, please take the time to go in and update your registration so that we have an accurate head count, or you can email rita@isupportcommunity.org. Thank you.

Age guidelines / Parent participation

Inside Out Club weekend events are designed for children ages 3-12 and their parents. Older children are welcome to participate as volunteer/mentors for the younger kids. These are family events, not drop off. If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact Rita at rita@isupportcommunity.org.

About the club

I Support Community’s Inside Out Club is on a mission to develop kids with character inside and out: Kids who work well together, include others, keep trying if they fail, can imagine what it’s like to be someone else, know themselves inside and out, are curious, thankful and kind, and support the community. Can you imagine if every child grew up believing and living their lives this way?

Our vision is individuals and families empowered through strength of character and volunteerism to live fuller lives for generations to come. We believe the more children and families that participate in the Inside Out Club, over time, we will make this vision come true. Thank you for being a part of it!

The Inside Out Club is on the weekends, in schools and @home (online). We offer it free of cost so that everyone can participate regardless of their financial situation. If you’d like to make a donation, please click here.
