Jack o lantern tea lights

Let’s brighten the day for some of Naperville’s Greatest Generation by making Halloween decorations for a local senior-living facility.

At this hands-on Inside Out Club event, families will learn how seniors contribute to our society, and the children will make a craft to donate. Children will decorate a battery-powered tea light with Halloween themes. The tea lights will be donated to Spring Meadows in Naperville, where they will liven up the rooms of residents.

This is a great way to show gratitude for seniors in our community, demonstrate kindness and have fun volunteering with other families.

What you need to bring

Amazon or Visa gift cards or a $10 donation to be used to purchase supplies for Inside Out Club events. We’ll provide all the supplies needed for the Halloween craft.

We’ll meet at the Fry Family YMCA in the Y Hangout on Sunday, October 15, at 2 p.m. to talk about the value of seniors in the community and make Halloween-themed tea lights. After the club, families that would like to drop off the tea lights can drive to Spring Meadows Senior Facility, 504 N. River Road in Naperville.

Space is limited. You must register to reserve your spot(s). There is no cost to register, but we do expect that if you register you will attend. If something arises, please take the time to go in and update your registration so that we have an accurate head count, or you can email rita@isupportcommunity.org. Thank you.

Age guidelines / Parent participation

Inside Out Club weekend events are designed for children ages 3-12 and their parents. Older children are welcome to participate as volunteer/mentors for the younger kids. These are family events, not drop off. If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact Rita at rita@isupportcommunity.org.

About the club

I Support Community’s Inside Out Club is on a mission to develop kids with character inside and out: Kids who work well together, include others, keep trying if they fail, can imagine what it’s like to be someone else, know themselves inside and out, are curious, thankful and kind, and support the community. Can you imagine if every child grew up believing and living their lives this way?

Our vision is individuals and families empowered through strength of character and volunteerism to live fuller lives for generations to come. We believe the more children and families that participate in the Inside Out Club, over time, we will make this vision come true. Thank you for being a part of it!

The Inside Out Club is on the weekends, in schools and @home (online). We offer it free of cost so that everyone can participate regardless of their financial situation. If you’d like to make a donation, please click here.

Thank you to the YMCA for partnering with us in hosting this event!
