give a refugee a warm heart

The Inside Out Club will be making fleece tie blankets and welcome cards for refugees. These items will go to refugee families being resettled in DuPage County with the help of World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA).

Imagine the kindness a soft blanket and card can show a child or adult.

We’ll also learn a bit more about WRDA, located in Wheaton, which offers a comprehensive range of services to refugees and immigrants living in DuPage and Kane Counties.

What to bring

We’ll provide the fleece, scissors, paper, markers and crayons. All you need to bring is yourselves.

If you’d like to pick your own fleece or bring an extra pair of scissors that’d be great, but not required.

Timeline

We’ll meet at the Fry YMCA Hang Out Room at 3pm to make the blankets and cards as well as learn about refugees in our community.

Cost/Registration

Space is limited. You must register to reserve your spot(s). The cost is $7 per child (adults are free), which covers the cost of supplies, time and organization involved in planning and executing the event.

If you cannot afford the cost, please email the names and ages in your family or group to info@isupportcommunity.org and we will be happy to register you for free.

If you’d like to avoid the Eventbrite fees, please make a donation for $7 per child at www.isupportcommunity.org/donate, put the weekend event name in the comments field and we email you to confirm your register you for the event.

If you have questions, please email Marion at marion@isupportcommunity.org.

Age guidelines / Parent participation

Inside Out Club weekend events are designed for children ages 3-12 and their parents. Older children are welcome to participate as volunteer/mentors for the younger kids. These are family events, not drop off. If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact Rita at rita@isupportcommunity.org.

About the club

I Support Community’s Inside Out Club is on a mission to develop kids with character inside and out: Kids that work well together, include others, keep trying if they fail, can imagine what it’s like to be someone else, know themselves inside and out, are curious, thankful and kind, and support the community. Can you imagine if every child grew up believing and living their lives this way?

Our vision is a community filled with empathetic and engaged community contributors for generations to come. We believe the more children and families that participate in the Inside Out Club, over time, will make this vision come true. Thank you for being a part of it!
The Inside Out Club (https://www.isupportcommunity.org/inside-out-club/) is on the weekends, in schools and online.

We are a not for profit funded through grants, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. If you’d like to make a donation, please click here.
