Being outside as a family is amazing. Join us in planting prairie plants and cleaning up the river in downtown Naperville.
Dr. Gregory Ruthig, Associate Professor of Biology at North Central College, will teach us about the prairie and kids will get to plant a prairie plant in the College’s prairie. Afterwards, we’ll be outfitted with bags, gloves and claws to walk the river and clean it up. We’ll be cleaning up the river from Washington to Hillside road.
This is a wonderful way to spend your Sunday afternoon and will be great for the environment.
Location & Timing
2:00 PM – Meet in the parking lot on the north side of the football stadium at North Central College. We’ll need everyone to sign waivers at this time that specifically cover the river clean-up.
Note: If you are bringing children that are not yours, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can email you a waiver to complete a head of time.
2:15 – 2:45 PM – Learn about the prairie and plant prairies plants
2:45 – 4:00 PM – Clean-up the river
Anyone that needs to leave early, can turn in their bags to Professor Ruthig.
What to Bring
We will provide the plants, garbage bags, and pickers. If you have a good pair of working or garden gloves, please bring them. Otherwise, we’ll provide plastic gloves to wear. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, dress for the weather and wear covered shoes that can get wet (old sneakers are the best!)
Space is limited. You must register to reserve your spot(s). The cost is $7 per child (adults are free), which covers the cost of the prairie plants, time and organization involved in planning and executing the event.
If you cannot afford the cost, please email the names and ages in your family or group to email@example.com and we will be happy to register you for free.

Age guidelines / Parent participation
Inside Out Club weekend events are designed for children ages 3-12 and their parents. Older children are welcome to participate as volunteer/mentors for the younger kids. These are family events, not drop off. If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact Rita at firstname.lastname@example.org.
About the club
I Support Community’s Inside Out Club is on a mission to develop kids with character inside and out: Kids that work well together, include others, keep trying if they fail, can imagine what it’s like to be someone else, know themselves inside and out, are curious, thankful and kind, and support the community. Can you imagine if every child grew up believing and living their lives this way?
Our vision is a community filled with empathetic and engaged community contributors for generations to come. We believe the more children and families that participate in the Inside Out Club, over time, will make this vision come true. Thank you for being a part of it! The Inside Out Club (https://www.isupportcommunity.org/inside-out-club/) is on the weekends, in schools and online.
We are a not for profit funded through grants, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. If you’d like to make a donation, please click here.
