Do you have time or talents you want to use to make a difference? By sharing the stories and needs of non-profits in your community, I Support Community hopes to connect you with a volunteer opportunity that you find personally fulfilling.

Volunteerism is critical to charities and other non-profits being able to make a difference in the community around them, in this country, and around the world. By volunteering your time and talents, you make it possible for non-profits to provide their services and make a bigger impact.

Ways to locate volunteer opportunities -

Volunteer Opportunities List

Blessings in a Backpack

Pack Backpacks:  Volunteers pack and distribute backpacks to kids in the Blessings in a Backpack program on a weekly basis. To volunteer in your area, please call your local school to find out if that school has a Blessings in a Backpack program. All volunteers are coordinated at the local level.

Become a Program Coordinator: Program Coordinators form the backbone of Blessings in a Backpack. They take on a lot of responsibility and make a three-year commitment when they join Blessings in a Backpack's program. Program Coordinators coordinate payment for the food every week, make sure the food gets to the school, and organize volunteers to get the food into the backpacks. They fundraise or find a financial sponsor for the program. A Program Coordinator can be an individual: a concerned parent, teacher, or member of the community. Neighborhood organizations can also act as program coordinators, spreading out the responsibility among their members.

For additional information, please refer to the Blessings in a Backpack website or contact the national office at 800-872-4366 or by mail at Blessings in a Backpack Headquarters, 4121 Shelbyville Rd., Louisville, KY 40207
